Active in stone industry: Grekan mine in Ashtian has been put into operation and we are currently extracting the rock.

According to Iran Stone Exhibition International, Seyed Hamed Ghomashi, a stone industry activist, said in an exclusive interview with the Iranian Stone News Agency: "The Grekan mine in Ashtian has been put into operation and we are currently extracting the stone. The stone of this Sandstone mine is a wood design and is processed at the Valiasr plant in Dohak.

He added that this type of stone is used for facades and stairs and can also be used for interior decoration such as fireplaces and pots. The price of this stone is from one hundred thousand toman to one hundred fifty thousand toman.

Activist with experience in the stone industry stated: We have not done extensive work on the export of this stone so far but there is an example of it in Australia and Australian stone activists have worked very hard on exporting this stone and have been very successful in exporting it. Given that they have been exporting this stone to the world markets for many years and have reached a very good position in this field, it is very difficult to compete with them.

Qomashi said the processed shipped the stone to Karbala and Najaf and we are working to export it to the Gulf states. This kind of rock is not fragile and the heat and cold have no effect on it and it is very suitable for a country like Russia.

He noted that customers of this stone inside Iran are mostly those who produce interior decorations such as fireplaces or pots or decorative sculptures.

He explained about his other mining activities: In addition to the Gerkan mine, we have begun work on a yellow slate stone used in the irregular villa facade. This mine is around Shanegh and we are exploring it.

He continued: "We had problems with the exploration and exploitation of this mine with natural resources that have been resolved and we can put it into operation next year."
