Director General of the Planning, Information Technology and Budget Office of the Geological Survey of Iran: Today, there is a serious need for new systematic and scientific explorations throughout the country using the latest methods in the world to collect and analyze specialized information.

According to the International Iranian Stone Exhibition, due to the growing need of the country to provide mineral resources needed by various industries and also the declining trend of existing mineral reserves, a change in the process of discovering large mineral reserves is necessary, which requires a serious change in expertise And funding.

Reza Jadidi, while recalling the various geological and exploratory specialties in the human resources of this organization in its six decades of activity in the field of producing basic information in the field of geology and mineral resources exploration, added: Due to high risk, lack of economic attractiveness, scientific complexity, Hardware and software up-to-date equipment for the private sector to invest requires the entry of the government sector to bring about a strategic shift in world-class mineral exploration in a well-codified planning.

Earlier, Alireza Shahidi, head of the Geological Survey and Mineral Exploration Organization, said that about sixty-six percent of the country's total mines contain non-metallic materials and construction materials and have a small amount of metal resources, the importance of small mines is becoming more prominent.

He estimated that small-scale mines, despite having small reserves, accounted for about 80% of Iran's total mines.

Exploration programs are not enough

"Exploration programs carried out by the governmental and non-governmental sectors in recent years are not enough, so the implementation of various local and small-scale projects has led to the forgetting of systematic explorations aimed at identifying and exploring new mineral reserves," Jadidi said.

According to him, such projects are aimed at discovering a type of mineral and only "to meet the needs of some industries in the country, while the Geological Survey and Mineral Exploration Organization during its activity using the power of experts and financial resources at its disposal It has made systematic and multifaceted discoveries, which have resulted in the discovery of various mineral reserves in recent years, which, given the financial resources allocated to this organization, have had significant results compared to the value of the discovered minerals.

Of course, Shahidi had said before, for the growth of explorations since 1381, the issue of aerial geophysics was considered by the Geological Survey and Mineral Exploration to explore the reserves that lie underground and no evidence of them can be seen on the ground.

The head of the Geological Survey and Mineral Exploration of the country, stating that these mines are located at a depth of one hundred to one hundred and fifty meters, according to statistics and studies, clarified: The depth of exploration in Iran is very small, so that we can discuss our survival Minerals and factory feed supply must be preserved, we must pay attention to depth.

New systematic exploration program

The Director General of the Planning, Information Technology and Budget Office of the organization, referring to the development of a new program of the organization in the field of systematic exploration and production of new basic geological information in the country, the need to change attitudes and policies in the field of mining development and funding Stressed required.

According to him, the management of scientific and governmental organizations that are responsible for generating wealth and various infrastructure information for the country, is significantly different from the management of other departments in this regard, implementation of programs to maintain and maintain specialized manpower, targeted development of human resources and redefine financial resources. Public and private budgets are vital in these areas.

Proper financing guarantees the discovery of new reserves

Jadidi added: "Appropriate financial resources for the implementation of projects and services required by the Geological Survey of the country in the field of outsourcing of specialized activities defined systematically using the capacity of the private sector will play a significant role."

He pointed out: "Based on the production cycle of basic geological and exploratory information, defining an integrated and clear path, unified policy-making and monitoring the implementation process by the government sector, in this way there is a serious need for private sector capacity and activities if there are adequate financial resources." And as a result, there will be a dramatic change in the discovery of new mineral reserves.

According to this report, the discovery of sixty-eight types of minerals in the country has made Iran one of the top ten mineral index countries in the world in terms of diversity. Also, the identification of about fifty-seven billion tons of mineral reserves, of which nearly thirty-seven billion tons are definite and the rest is probable, Iran is among the fifteen mineral countries in the world.
