Head of Trade Development Organization: Although Iran does not currently have free trade with any country, it has signed a free trade agreement with Syria and there is a good infrastructure in this regard, but the private sector and economic actors need to be involved. In the post-ISIS era, extraordinary capacities have been created in this country that need work.

According to the International Iranian Stone Exhibition, Hamidreza Zadboom stated in today's meeting on opportunities for cooperation and trade development with Syria: "We have political and ideological approaches to Syria, which makes our relationship with this country easier, but on the other hand, this relationship , Also has difficulties. Despite all this closeness, no major economic events have taken place between the two countries, and greater work needs to be done in the coming years.

He added: "Although Iran does not currently have free trade with any country, it has signed a free trade agreement with Syria and there is a good infrastructure in this regard, but the private sector and economic actors need to be involved in this matter." In the post-ISIS era, extraordinary capacities have been created in this country that need work.

The head of the Trade Development Organization of Iran stated: In the free trade agreement with Syria, 88 items of goods are excluded and the rest of the goods are free. The tariff in this free trade is set at 4%, but we are trying to reduce this figure to zero with the help of the parliament and the consent of the Syrian side.

Zadboom added: "In the first two or three months of this year, compared to the same period last year, our exports to Syria decreased by 19% in terms of value." Imports also fell by 14 percent, but this is despite sanctions and conditions resulting from the outbreak of the corona. We are confident that next year Iran's trade relations with other countries, including Syria, will have a new impetus.

He noted: "We hope that with the cooperation of the Iran-Syria Economic Development Headquarters, a tripartite organization will be established between the Chamber of Commerce, the Trade Development Organization and this headquarters."

The head of Iran's Trade Development Organization, referring to the importance of cleanliness and transportation, said: "More attention should be paid to the issue of cleanliness between the two countries." A working group has been set up in the Trade Development Organization to work on the issue of cleanliness with different countries. Another necessary infrastructure is the issue of transportation, which can help in the development of our trade relations.
