Director General of the Arab Bureau of the Trade Development Organization: A three-year plan for the development of exports to Syria has been designed in the Trade Development Organization and we should have $ 400 million in exports to this country by 1402

"Syria is one of our strategic partners and is politically and economically important," Farzad Pilten said today at a conference on trade opportunities and strategies with Syria, which was held at the Iran Chamber of Commerce. Therefore, with more effort, we must provide the ground for increasing trade relations.

The director general of the Arab-African office of the Trade Development Organization of Iran added: "Syria's economy has shrunk due to security issues, so that Syria's trade with the world was $ 30 billion in 2008, but this figure has reached less than $ 5 billion in 2019." This has naturally affected Syria's trade relations with Iran. However, due to the strategic nature of Syria, we must use the same volume.

He continued: "In addition to exporting goods and services, we can export technical and engineering services to this country, which, of course, has already implemented good projects in this field in Syria."

Pilten added: "Syria's needs are high in various sectors, and for example, the reconstruction and modernization of Syrian industries and the creation of economic infrastructure in this country should be considered." Of course, good joint investments have been made in Syria, but they must increase.

"In the Trade Development Organization, we have designed a three-year plan to develop exports and imports and export technical and engineering services to Syria," he said.

Pilten added: "Our largest export to Syria in 1989 was $ 500 million, but this figure has reached less than $ 90 million in the first ten months of this year." We can plan to export $ 1.5 billion to Syria.

"By 1402, we plan to increase exports to Syria to $ 400 million," he said.

"Of course, the security issues and the political risks in Syria that have affected the Syrian economy are one of the main challenges in the field of trade, which is declining," Pilten said.
