In its latest report, the Tehran Chamber of Commerce examines the situation of economic freedom among different countries, which shows Iran's unfavorable ranking in this field.

According to the International Iranian Stone Exhibition, the Index of Economic Freedom shows the relationship between free economic conditions in achieving the social and economic goals of countries, which can lead to healthier societies with human development and poverty reduction.

In the global review of this index, 12 factors are examined in four main groups and determine the result and outcome of the work, the score of countries and then their global ranking.

Among the determining factors in this index, rule of law, government size, regulatory efficiency and open markets are four main categories and in the sub-categories are issues such as government spending, financial health, judicial effectiveness, business freedom, labor force and money. As well as freedom of trade.

The latest studies show that in 2021, Iran's economic freedom index score is about 47, and thus this year, Iran is ranked 168th among the countries in the world with a drop of two degrees.

What complicates the situation is that among the 14 countries in the Middle East and North Africa, Iran's economy ranks last in terms of this index.

Iran's economy has always been below the world average of economic freedom since 1996, and although it started to rise during the Borjam period, it finally became negative again in 2020, and it seems that this trend will continue this year as well.

Among the countries in the region in terms of economic freedom, Georgia has the strangest ranking. It is the twelfth free economy in the Eastern European region with a score of 77. The UAE is ranked 14th in the world with about 77 points, followed by Qatar and Armenia at 31st and 32nd, respectively.

The statistics do not look at the situation in Iraq, Yemen and Syria, but still many of the world's closed economies belong to the same region. According to statistics, Afghanistan is ranked 146th, Pakistan 152nd, Lebanon 154th and Tajikistan 167th, followed by Iran in 168th place in the world.
